Gabby Kranock was celebrating the end of summer with friends before starting her senior year in high school when her entire world changed in a split second.

On Sept. 3, 2022, an alleged underage drunk driver crashed into Gabby and two of her close friends while they were standing on a lawn.

One friend was killed upon impact and the other was seriously injured. Gabby is now paralyzed below the shoulders as a result of this tragedy and remains hospitalized.

Gabby and her family wanted to find a way to give back to those who helped support Gabby during this difficult time: Hope Rises and Sweet Buffalo Rocks.

Hope Rises recently collaborated with its partner, West Herr, to bring Gabby a life-changing gift: a wheelchair-accessible van, providing Gabby with the gift of mobility of freedom. Hope Rises also organized a visit at the hospital for Gabby from Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer after sharing Gabby’s viral story on Twitter.

Sweet Buffalo helped Gabby by sharing her story and GoFundMe on its platform in October 2022, where organizers say donations and cards started pouring in for her.

Canal Club 62 in North Tonawanda teamed up to host a fundraiser for Gabby raising $4,000-plus during the holidays.

The Town of Tonawanda Police also supported Gabby through a winter hat fundraiser, selling New Era winter caps for $25 and raising $4,000-plus for Gabby.

Now Gabby’s family is partnering with Buffawix to help give back to Hope Rises and Sweet Buffalo Rocks Inc. to help even more people.

“When I started Buffawix Candle Co. after losing my job during COVID, I knew I wanted to do more than just sell candles,” said Kristine Bailey, owner of Buffawix Candle Co. “We have done multiple fundraisers in the last three years, and giving back to our community is so important to myself and my family. The indescribable feeling we get by contributing to a worthwhile cause is a great feeling.”

Gabby's personally chosen candle scents from Buffawix Candle Co. have the number "15," which represents her high school basketball number. Red was chosen, because it is her favorite color; and the definition for "strength" was chosen, because Gabby completely embodies it.

No need to look any further for that perfect Mother's Day gift. These candles are not only an ideal choice, but you will also be supporting two nonprofits that give back to our community.

Candles will be preorder only on https://buffawixcandleco.com/search?q=gabby and ready for pick up at Buffawix Candle Co. and/or shipping the week of May 1.

The special fundraiser, which launched last week, is already half way toward its goal!
