Senior Wishes, a local nonprofit, announced its annual fundraiser returns April 20 at Fox Run at Orchard Park. “Sips, Suds & Sweets” runs from 6-9 p.m. and features local businesses sampling wine, beer, sweet treats and light bites. Music will be provided by the Scott Celani Band. The event features a silent auction, as well as basket, gift card and Yeti Cooler raffles, free valet parking, and an opportunity to meet with previous wish recipients.

A press release stated, “Presented by Geico, with additional support by many caring corporate sponsors, this year’s event has been eagerly anticipated, and our volunteer committee is working tirelessly to create an evening that guests will enjoy while supporting a good cause.”

Tickets may be purchased at www.seniorwishes.com/events, at the Fox Run reception desk, or by calling 716-508-2121.

The press release continued, “Senior Wishes’ mission to recognize and take care of WNY low-income elderly continues. In 2022, we granted our 400th wish, expanded the recognition of senior veterans with our HERO box distribution, and delivered over 175 holiday gifts to isolated seniors living independently and in nursing homes. We continue to focus on engaging seniors living independently and in care facilities, and providing them with an experience they wish for or simply need.”

Applications for wishes are being accepted on an ongoing basis. Wish recipients must meet the following requirements: be 65 year or older; be a resident of WNY and a U.S. citizen; have an annual income $38,000 or less for a household of one, or $44,000 or less for a household of two; be cognitively, emotionally and physically capable of communicating and experiencing the wish; and unable to fulfill the wish on their own or with family assistance.

More information can be found at www.seniorwishes.org or by calling Executive Director Wendy Backman at 716-508-2121.
