With great pleasure, I have decided to announce my candidacy for Niagara County legislator in the 3rd District.
My name is Christopher McKimmie, I am a father of two wonderful children, and I am a lifelong resident of the City of Niagara Falls. With a storied career in public service, I am committed to making our community the best it can be.
I am currently a lieutenant in the Niagara Falls Police Department. I serve as a supervisor in the patrol division and on the department’s emergency response team. Having a specialty in traffic safety, DWI enforcement, and collision reconstruction, I have dedicated most of my career to making our streets safer.
Since 2010, I have served in the New York Air National Guard, a reserve component of the United States Air Force. During that time, I served as a firefighter, a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, and currently serve as first sergeant. As a key senior enlisted adviser to the commander, I am entrusted with ensuring the readiness, health, morale and welfare of the unit.
I have a significant history of volunteerism in our county. Prior to my law enforcement career, I volunteered as an EMS provider for more than five years at Tri-Community Ambulance Service Inc. During that time, I served on their board of directors as an assistant chief. Additionally, I served my community as a volunteer firefighter for more than 10 years at the Frontier Volunteer Fire Co., and served on their board of directors as president.
I am a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and I earned an associate of science in business administration from Niagara County Community College. Later, I earned a bachelor of science in business management and economics, with a concentration in public administration, from SUNY Empire State. I believe that my formal education, in addition to my practical experience solving problems in the community every day, make me perfectly qualified to serve as your next Niagara County legislator.
