The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children’s Museum and its friends at LaBella Associates have partnered to “Raise the Roof” by bringing free STEM programming to various Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries.
Each of the 12 programs would see up to 25 children who participated in an architecture or engineering-based activity. An educator from Explore & More, along with a volunteer from LaBella, would help children problem solve, create and test theories and complete the STEM activity.
STEM activities included "Breaking Ground" and "Archi-tent-ure" where they were challenged to build a waterproof tent from provided materials and test how well they could waterproof it. Through these activities, children are introduced to STEM concepts through fun, hands-on challenges.
