The deadline is fast-approaching for a discounted preregistration for “Advent Season: An Evening of Prayer,” being held on Thursday, Dec. 1, at Stella Niagara’s Center of Renewal.
Organizers said, “The month of December presents us with many periods of waiting ... waiting for the rest of the autumn leaves to fall, waiting in lines while shopping, waiting for delicious food cooking in the oven, waiting for mail and packages to arrive, and most important, awaiting the birth of Jesus at Christmas. Enhance your holiday anticipation during the four weeks of advent this year by participating in this special Dec. 1 program.”
According to Executive Director Dr. Nancy P. Askins, facilitator for the evening, a unique aspect of this mini-retreat includes inviting all participants to select and bring a special item, i.e., a seasonal decoration or ornament, or a favorite book, photo, drawing or other memento that will be part of their home's focus throughout the season. These items will be gathered together to formulate discussions during the “Evening of Prayer,” and for a special blessing to offer inspiration to self and others. Everyone then will take home their own special holiday memento item as they depart, further sharing the impact of this gathering.
The Center of Renewal Retreat & Conference Center at Stella Niagara operates as an interfaith retreat facility. It is sponsored by the Sisters of Saint Francis of Penance and Christian Charity, Holy Name Province. To preregister, call the Center of Renewal at 716-754-7376, ext. 1, or ext. 2.
