DISH is accepting nominations for the “Hometown Heroes” campaign to honor veterans or active military members as the “Military Hero of the Year.” Nominations will be accepted through Nov. 27. Five finalists and their stories will be selected for the public to vote on, and the “Military Hero of the Year” will be named on Jan. 13, 2023.

A press release noted, “The ‘Hometown Heroes’ campaign celebrates the incredible stories of heroes in our own backyards. Each quarter, DISH will honor a ‘Military Hero of the Year,’ ‘First Responder or Healthcare Worker of the Year’ and ‘Educator of the Year.’

“We're incredibly proud to amplify inspirational voices with the ‘Military Hero of the Year’ award through our ‘Hometown Heroes’ campaign,” said Brian Neylon, group president, DISH TV. “We love to hear and share the amazing stories of impactful individuals making a positive difference in their communities every day. If you know someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty, we would love to hear from you.”

The veteran or active military member with the most votes will receive a DISH home theater and smart home prize package, which includes: a 55-inch smart TV and surround sound system, other smart home items, as well as a trip to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, where the winner will be recognized on stage by some of Nashville’s favorite music artists.
