Chiavetta's chicken BBQ for Veterans Day

Fri, Oct 14th 2022 11:00 am

First District Niagara County Legislator Irene Myers announced plans for her annual Chiavetta’s Veterans Day chicken barbecue. The event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. (or until sold-out) on Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co. firehall, 625 Third St.

Myers said the event is held each year to benefit members of Lake Ontario VFW Post 313 in Youngstown, and the American Legion Leo Curtiss Post 830 in Ransomville.

She is currently seeking assistance from the community.

“We are asking for donations of baskets or gift certificates for the day's event,” Myers said. “Baskets can be dropped off at Ki-Po Chevrolet – Ransomville during business hours. Those who donate/drop off a basket or gift certificate at Ki-Po Chevrolet will be given a $10 Ki-Po gift certificate for their donation. We ask that basket donations not be ‘used.’

“Money raised from the baskets and barbecue go to support the Youngstown and Ransomville veterans post. Along with this year’s barbecue, we will be working on support for our ‘Local Hometown Heroes’ campaign!”

Tickets are priced at $15 and available at locations including Stevenson Hardware, Patti's Cut Above, Knead the Dough, Ki-Po Chevrolet and the Porter Empty Return Center in Ransomville; and The Village Diner and Anchor Spirits in Youngstown. Tickets are also available from post commanders and members.
