On Saturday, Oct. 8, the “Empress of Soul,” Gladys Knight, joins the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra for a 7:30 p.m. performance at Kleinhans Music Hall.
A press release said, “After producing countless No. 1 hit songs, winning seven Grammys in numerous categories, and making significant appearances in both film and television, this legendary woman will grace the stage of Kleinhans Music Hall for one night only.
“Ron Spigelman conducts as Gladys performs several of her most famous hits, including ‘Love Overboard,’ ‘I Heard It Through the Grapevine’ and ‘Midnight Train to Georgia.’ ”
Musician and audience favorite Spigelman was associate conductor for the BPO from 2001-04. This concert will be the first of four conducting appearances he will make this season, including “The Music of ABBA,” “Back to the Future in Concert” and “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert.”
