Next Thursday, NBC Sports begins the 2022 NFL regular season with the “NFL Kickoff Game” between Matthew Stafford and the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams hosting Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 8:20 p.m. on NBC, Peacock and Universo from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Coverage begins with a special on-site edition of “Football Night in America” at 7 p.m.

The new “Sunday Night Football” announce team of Mike Tirico, Cris Collinsworth and Melissa Stark will call Bills-Rams, with Terry McAulay serving as rules analyst.

Tirico and Collinsworth have teamed to call 22 NFL games (19 regular season, three preseason) since Tirico joined NBC Sports in 2016. Stark served as sideline reporter for ABC’s “Monday Night Football” for three seasons (2000-02), and has been a host and reporter for NFL Network since 2011.

The “Football Night in America” team of Maria Taylor, Tony Dungy, Jason Garrett, Chris Simms, Jac Collinsworth, Rodney Harrison, Matthew Berry and Mike Florio will anchor the special edition of “FNIA.” Taylor, Dungy, Simms, Harrison and Berry will be on-site at SoFi Stadium, while Garrett and Collinsworth will report from Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana, where they are calling the Fighting Irish’s game against Marshall on Sept. 10 at 2:30 p.m. on NBC and Peacock. Florio will contribute to “NFL Kickoff” pregame coverage from his home studio.

Taylor was named the first female full-time host of “Football Night in America” in May. Garrett, the former NFL quarterback and head coach of the Dallas Cowboys (2010-19), and Berry, the fantasy sports industry pioneer, begin their first seasons with NBC Sports.

Three days following Thursday’s “NFL Kickoff,” the opening NBC “SNF” matchup of the 2022 season will be presented Sept. 11, featuring Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys from AT&T Stadium. Coverage begins with “FNIA” at 7 p.m. on NBC and Peacock.

“Sunday Night Football,” primetime TV’s No. 1 show in all key metrics for an unprecedented 11 consecutive years, has won the Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Live Sports Series a record 11 times. In 2021, “SNF” averaged a total audience delivery of 19.3 million viewers on NBC, Peacock and other digital platforms.

Emmy-nominated “Football Night” begins at 7 p.m. on NBC and Peacock each week during the NFL regular season. It provides highlights and in-depth analysis of the afternoon games, interviews with high-profile players and coaches, breaking news insights, and an extensive preview of that night’s “SNF” matchup. Since its inception in 2006, “FNIA” has been the most-watched studio show in sports. In 2021, the program averaged 7.1 million viewers, up 18% vs. the previous season.

For the second consecutive season, Peacock will livestream all NBC “SNF” games, including the playoffs, and “FNIA.” The exclusive Peacock “Sunday Night Football Final” returns in 2022 with expanded postgame coverage following “SNF” each week.

Telemundo Deportes will again provide exclusive Spanish-language coverage of the entire NBC “Sunday Night Football” package with 20 regular season games, including Thursday’s “NFL Kickoff,” 18 regular-season “SNF” games, and the annual Thanksgiving night game, which will air on Telemundo and wrap up a full day of futbol and football. Telemundo Deportes will present three playoff matchups, including a Divisional Playoff game and two Wild Card Playoff games. All 23 NFL games this season will also be available on livestream via TelemundoDeportes.com and the Telemundo Deportes app.
