History comes alive at Cold Springs Cemetery at 1p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21.The Niagara History Center “Step Back in Time Players” will portray five different “residents” of the cemetery: Sarah Haines, a Quaker settler (Karen Sherwood); Jesse Hawley, surveyor of Lockport and Niagara Falls (Dennis Caisse); Lyman Spalding, store owner and abolitionist (Ryan Caisse); Cappie Daniels, matron of a “Disorderly House” (Marsha Zimmer); and Dr. Sarah Lamb Cushing, early Lockport doctor (Susie Parker).
They will relate the stories of their lives and how they all made significant contributions to Lockport and Niagara County.
Guiding guests through the tour will be quarry owner James Schuler (Geoff Koplas) and Linda Lee of Cold Springs Cemetery.
This is a two-hour walking tour. Guests may bring a chair or camp stool and bring water, if they wish. The donation to the museum is $10 cash. Reservations can be made at 716-434-7433. Guests should arrive through the Cold Springs Road entrance, where they can join the group for the tour.
