Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC), in partnership with Explore & More, will present “Find the Superhero Within Community Day” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at 130 Main St., Buffalo.

Organizers said, “Families can expect a fun-filled day of giveaways, sweet treats, superheroes, and more surprises with pay-what-you-wish admission to the museum!”

Families are invited to learn about the tuition-free programs available at the BEOC, then enjoy a free scoop of Superhero ice cream thanks to Perry’s Ice Cream; smoothies and juice from 716 Nutrition; cookies from Wegmans; doughnuts from Paula’s Donuts; and refreshments from Milk for Health. Plus, there will be giveaways courtesy of Fisher-Price, and a special visit from the superheroes at the Superhero Alliance of WNY.

Explore & More CEO Michelle Urbanczyk said, "We are thrilled to offer a day of super fun to the community thanks to our friends at the Buffalo EOC! We hope families can enjoy a day of hands-on play with lots of special activities and surprises. Pay-what-you-wish-admission is one of our favorite ways to support our community, and we couldn't be more thrilled to offer it!"

BEOC Executive Director Dr. Julius Gregg Adams said, “We have been amazed but not surprised by the strength of our community in its response to the tragedy of May 14. As part of the healing process, the BEOC felt it was important to encourage our children to find the hero within themselves, as they continue to cope. Attendees will interact with superheroes, engage in fun activities, and learn about both the BEOC and the Explore and More Children’s Museum. At the same time, we will offer information about the tuition-free programming that is offered to adult learners in high school equivalency, college preparation, and vocational fields such as allied health, Google IT, and security guard training at the BEOC. We are truly excited about this collaborative effort and to offer the community free tickets to experience the wonderful Explore and More Children’s Museum as they speak to staff from the BEOC.”

More information and tickets can be purchased here.
