Get ready for a summertime favorite next Saturday on the Lake Ontario beaches in Porter.

Following two years of disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of Porter Summerfest returns July 16 with a full day of family fun. The event opens at 3 p.m. and continues to 10 p.m. with a fabulous fireworks display at the town park, located on Dietz Road.

“Mark your calendars, because the Town of Porter Summerfest is on this year!” Porter Town Supervisor John “Duffy” Johnston said. “We will have music by Strictly Hip and Rob Thurman’s Led Zeppelin tribute band, Out on the Tiles. There will be children's activities, craft/merchandise vendors, beer/wine/food and more.”

The event is presented by the Town of Porter, the Niagara River Region Chamber and a number of sponsors. Featured attractions include a bounce house and petting zoo for the kids, plus balloons and face painting. Also expected will be Jason, Tom and the crew from Skydive the Falls on nearby Braley Road, who will perform some exciting jumps on the Lake Ontario shores above the park.

The town reports the music will open with Out on the Tiles at 3 p.m., followed by Strictly Hip at 6 p.m. on the beachside stage. The big pavilion will be open on top, and Johnston said the park is all set to host what he expects to be a fantastic fest.

“There will also be an awesome firework show at dusk that you won't want to miss! So, bring your family and friends and we look forward to seeing you,” Johnston said.

Admission is $5 for adults at the park gates or presale, with kids under 12 admitted free. No coolers or carry-ins are permitted. All proceeds will benefit Porter on the Lake Park.

Sponsors for Summerfest at POTL include Modern Disposal Services, Waste Management, First District Niagara County Legislator Irene Myers, Sevenson Environmental Services, Mark Cerrone, KiPo Chevrolet, Hardison Funeral Homes, Barker Outdoors, Fox Fence, Mawhiney Trucking, Truesdell Trucking and Just Signs. Also, Acome Construction Co., Beau Enterprises, CRB Holdings/Tim Hortons, Rays Tavern and the Youngstown Business and Professional Association.

Presale tickets for Summerfest 2022 are available through the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce website. For more information, visit the Town of Porter Summerfest page on Facebook.
