Artwork by Cardinal O’Hara student Hannah Siegel to be featured in U.S. Capitol with winning pieces from across country
Congressman Brian Higgins announced the winners of the annual Congressional Art Competition. The top winner will have their art displayed in the halls to the Capitol Building and will also receive two tickets from Southwest Airlines to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony to be held in Washington, D.C., at the end of June (alongside young artists from across the country).
“The arts play an important role in education and in our community,” Higgins said. “Western New York is home to talented young people. It’s great to have this opportunity to showcase their work both locally and in Washington.”
The winners of this year’s competition are:

A press release noted, “The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity for high school students to receive recognition for their achievements in art. This year, submissions were accepted virtually, and young people from across the Buffalo area sent in unique, creative pieces. All submissions were posted in a virtual gallery on Congressman Higgins’ website.”
