Annually, the Erie County Fair offers a chance to show off this region’s creativity in a variety of exhibits – including winemaking, fine arts, conservation, woodworking and agriculture, to name a few. More than 12,500 entries in 9,000 classes are processed each year, with entrants vying for a chance to win cash prizes and, more importantly, the bragging rights associated with taking home a championship ribbon.

The Erie County Fair welcomes public participation as most competitions have no residency requirement. Only the “Home Wine,” “Home Brew” and “Conservation” categories are restricted to residents of New York. Children as young as 5 years of age are encouraged to take part in Junior Creative Arts submissions that include Lego building block sculptures, handmade jewelry and doll making.

New for 2022 are graduation cap decorating, barn squares and jerky competition. This year will also see the return of the pie competition and the hair competition.

Entry information, including terms/conditions, class listings and deadlines, is currently online at the Erie County Fair’s website (www.ECFair.org). Most competitions have an entry deadline of July 15. Questions regarding the fair’s competitive exhibits may be directed to [email protected] or at 716-649-3900, ext. 6407.

The Erie County Fair will be held Aug. 10-21.
