The Wheatfield Business Association received 11 applicants – 11 outstanding students from schools including Niagara Wheatfield, Starpoint and St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute – for its 2022 scholarships. After consideration of all the entrants, Hunter Hodge and Evan Blatner were named the winners.
Hodge is graduating from Starpoint. He was accepted at and will attend Rochester Institute of Technology, for a dual MBA in marketing and management informational systems. Hodge serves as yearbook editor-in-chief, a class officer (treasurer), National Honor Society treasurer, foreign language club, musical club (pit band and costume), and participated in varsity swimming and diving. His weighted cumulative average is 100.51, and he has been a scholar athlete in swimming throughout high school. Hodge participated in “Lock in to Lock out Cancer” as a committee member and event coordinator, and has volunteered at Meals on Wheels and John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
Blatner is graduating from St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute. He plans to attend Niagara University, majoring in business technology and minoring in sports management. Blatner is a member of the National Honor Society, a marking officer of the business and economics club, a member of the A-Team sports broadcasting club, and former student athlete of the month for varsity hockey. He also played travel hockey with Wheatfield Blades/Niagara Purple Eagles for the past 14 years. His weighted cumulative average is 94.51.
