'Music Mania Mondays' returns June 27

The Town of Niagara announced that its popular “Music Mania Monday” concert series begins its eighth season Monday, June 27, at the Veterans Memorial Community Park on Lockport Road. Music begins at 6:30 p.m. with the Billy Joel tribute band the Turnstyles, from South Florida. This performance will feature the music of Joel from 1971 to the present, and will include such hits as “The Piano Man” and “Uptown Girl.” Opening band that evening will be Seventh Sign.

On Monday, July 2, the town presents a special edition of “Music Mania Monday” as its Independence Day celebration. An all-day musical lineup will open at 2 p.m. Four bands will perform throughout the day, which concludes at 10 p.m. with a massive Independence Day fireworks celebration. The musical lineup includes:

√ 2-3:30 p.m. – The classic rock sounds of Storm

√ 4-5:30 p.m. – The Led Zeppelin tribute band Out on the Tiles

√ 6-7:30 p.m. – Styx tribute band Grand Illusion

√ 8-10 p.m. – ELO tribute band Strange Tribute

“Music Mania Mondays” continues July 11 with the Elton John tribute Elton Rohn beginning at 6:30 p.m. Back by popular demand, this show is a must-see, complete with the flamboyant costumes of Elton John backed by a string quartet. There will be no opening performance that evening.

July 18 will feature Queen Nation, a Queen tribute direct from Southern California. Leading off that evening will be the band Rock Angel, featuring Lewiston’s Maureen Gambino.

One of “Music Mania’s” biggest draws returns on stage on July 25 with The BBC Band playing all those Beatles favorites. Opening band is Flipside.

On Aug. 1, Western New York favorite Strictly Hip will make its first visit to the “Music Mania Monday” stage. Leadoff band will be Meg and the Vandals.

The good times at Veterans Park continues on Aug. 8 with Chicago Authority, a Chicago tribute not to be missed. Opener that night will be The USA Band.

On Aug. 18, look forward to a fantastic doubleheader featuring the Yacht Fathers followed by Nerds Gone Wild.

“Music Mania Mondays” concludes Aug. 22 with Escape, one of the premier Journey tribute bands from Los Angeles. Opening will be Learn to Fly, a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute.

The series is presented by the Town of Niagara, with premier corporate sponsorship by Niagara’s Choice Federal Credit Union, Joe Cecconi’s Chrysler Complex, WNY Heroes, Republic Services, Covanta Environmental Services, Tim Hortons, Rich Entertainment Group and Scott Lawn Yard Inc. “Music Mania Mondays” is open to the public, with lead-off shows beginning at 6:30 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served, and number of food vendors are on site each week.

The town said Veterans Memorial Community Park is a smoke-free venue. Coolers are allowed, but subject to be searched. No outside alcohol is allowed. Service dogs are the only animals permitted in the park.
