Niagara Arts Guild names Best of Show at spring exhibit

Katherine Kepner won Best of Show for her painting, “North Carolina Marsh,” at the Saturday opening of the Niagara Arts Guild spring 2022 show and sale.

The event continues at the History Center of Niagara Meeting Room, 215 Niagara St., Lockport. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Some works of art may be purchased. Included are paintings and sculpture. The shows and sale end Saturday, June 4.

Winners of awards are:

  • Best of Show: Katherine Kepner, “North Carolina Marsh”
  • Second place: Peggy Taylor, “Dreaming Imagination and Intuition”
  • Third place (tie): Nona McQuay, “Mount Cecos”; and Renata Donaldson, “Fire and Ice”
  • Honorable mention: Kim Christy, “Farm Fences”; Manning McCandlish, “Wherever You Go”; Maggie Eaton, “Elvis is Alive and Well and Living in Amsterdam”; Phil Eaton, “Topographical”
  • Viewer Choice: Rhonda Daigler, “Evening Lullabye”

Lewiston artist Michelle Marcotte served as judge of the competition. 

•May’s meeting of the Niagara Arts Guild features a chance to have an art work critiqued by fellow artists. From 7-9 p.m. Friday, May 13, bring a masterpiece to the Dale Association, 33 Ontario St., Lockport.

Meetings are free, and the Arts Guild is accepting new members.

The Niagara Arts Guild encourages artists and art lovers to join the organization, which has supported and educated Niagara area artists since 1948.
