Tax Department experts available to answer last-minute filing questions

The personal income tax call center extends hours for three days

The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance announced its income tax call center will extend its hours to assist last-minute filers.

The deadline to file a personal income tax return and pay any taxes owed is 11:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) Monday, April 18.

In addition to standard hours of operation from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, Tax Department experts will be available as follows:

√ 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, April 15;

√ 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16; and

√ 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, April 18.

The department said, “Before you call, consider that the most efficient way to obtain tax filing guidance and information, including answers to common questions, is to visit the Tax Department’s website, www.tax.ny.gov, and its Filing season resource center for resources to help you electronically prepare and file an accurate return on time.”
