The Tool Library & WNY Trash Mob present Earth Day Cleanup contest

The Tool Library and WNY Trash Mob have officially opened registration for their citywide Earth Day cleanup competition, scheduled from Friday, April 22, to Sunday, April 24.

Organizers said, “The Tool Library and WNY Trash Mob have formed a coalition of community organizations from across Buffalo dedicated to building community, promoting civic engagement, and advancing neighborhood beautification. Individuals and groups are welcome to show their support and participate in this year's contest.”

“Play a little part in sending a big message: We Care About Our Community,” said one of the event organizers, Katherine Pessacow, director of WNY Trash Mob, an initiative of Community Canvases. “Join us as we work together to celebrate Earth Day in Buffalo.”

Contest rules:

√ Grab a trash bag from home or register to receive a free 311 clean up kit. Registration links for individuals and large groups are available on Facebook at https://fb.me/e/1cLesKkmR.

√ Clean up an area of your choice.

√ Photograph the trash you collect.

√ Post your photos to Facebook or Instagram and tag @wnytrashmob with #WNYEarthDay2022.

An afterparty will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, April 25, at the Ukrainian American Civic Center, 205 Military Road, Buffalo. Prizes will include gift certificates to local businesses, and donations from local artists.
