The Erie/Niagara Sunrise Exchange Club, in collaboration with Mayor Austin Tylec, are recognizing the month of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month with the lighting of City Hall in blue for the entire month. They are encouraging all individuals and organizations to play a role in making the Tonawanda’s a better place for children and families.

A press release stated, “The Erie/Niagara Sunrise Exchange Club believes we can help prevent child abuse and neglect by creating strong and thriving children, youth and families in our communities, by ensuring that parents have the knowledge, skills and resources they need to care for their children.”

Tylec said, “We need to recognize the importance our community can play in protecting children and strengthening families. Everyone’s participation is critical.”

An opening program and lighting ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Children’s Remembrance Garden in Brauer Park, 216 Payne Ave. All are welcome to attend.
