A statement from Erie County District Attorney John Flynn following a shooting Wednesday at McKinley High School.

“As a parent, I am shaken by the violence that occurred yesterday outside of McKinley High School. I pray that the student and the security officer who were injured make a full and quick recovery.

“My office, along with the Buffalo Police Department, Buffalo Public School District and all assisting law enforcement agencies, are aggressively investigating this incident. My thoughts are with the entire McKinley Vocational High School community as we work to uncover who is responsible for this horrific crime.

“I am committed to keeping our schools safe, and I am deeply concerned about the increasing incidents of gun violence involving young people in our community. Just last week, my office held two panel discussions at another Buffalo Public School to send a message to our youth about the consequences of gun violence. As they continue to heal from this tragedy, my office will continue to be a resource for the Buffalo Public School District and all school districts in Erie County, so we can work together to keep our schools safe.”
