On Friday afternoon, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a structure fire at 2040 Cory Drive, in the Town of Wheatfield. NCSO deputies responded with members of Bergholz Volunteer Fire Co., Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. and the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. Responding personnel observed large amounts of black smoke and visible flames coming from the building.
NCSO stated, "The operations manager on scene stated that one of the furnaces caught on fire, which spread to the building and throughout the plant. He also confirmed that all employees were evacuated and accounted for.”
Tri-Community EMS responded to assist as well. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by Niagara County Origin and Cause.
