At 11:49 a.m. Sunday, the Niagara Falls Fire Department responded to the 600 block of 16th Street for a possible structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy flames from the front of the building’s first floor. The fire also traveled to the house next door.
Firefighters were able to enter the structure to conduct a search for any occupants. Upon a search of the second-floor apartment, firefighters were able to rescue a man who was transported to the hospital by ambulance. A secondary search of the building found no other victims.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
