'Rockin' With Santa' looks to help area children

Fri, Dec 3rd 2021 07:00 am

John and Kate White and the “Rockin' With Santa” committee seek donations of new, unwrapped toys for youth up to the age of 16. Through Dec. 8, find barrel drop-off locations at the TNT city halls, the Chamber of Commerce of the Tonawandas, Tc Wheeler's Pizzeria & Sports Bar, Fast Teddy's Restaurant, Jamie's Ice Cream and the Royal Family Restaurant.

“Rockin' With Santa” works with the St. Francis of Assisi Outreach Program, St. Vincent de Paul, Head Start, the YWCA and St. Mark Lutheran Church in finding and assisting others.

“We want to generate toys each year for the families that are in need,” John White said. He and his wife started this charitable endeavor more than 20 years ago.

“It's exciting because we do approximately 130-140 families, and we give three toys per child. So, it's pretty neat,” he said.

The 501 (c)(3) “Rockin’ With Santa” looks to collect about 2,500 toys each year.

“It's a difficult task, but just think if you stopped it – those kids wouldn't get them,” White said.

To make a donation, send checks payable to “Rockin' With Santa,” attention: John White, PO Box 96, Tonawanda, NY 14151-0096.
