Open house set for Tuesday at Niagara Falls City Hall

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will host a public information meeting from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, pertaining to a proposed highway safety improvement project scheduled to begin next fall on U.S. Route 62, Walnut and Ferry avenues, in the City of Niagara Falls.

The informal, open house meeting will be held at Niagara Falls City Hall, located at 745 Main St. The session will feature displays about the project and provide an opportunity for discussion with NYSDOT representatives, who will be available to receive comments and answer individual questions. No formal presentation will be made.

All meeting attendees will be required to wear a mask.

The purpose of the project is to improve highway operations and safety conditions on Walnut and Ferry Avenues, while enhancing safety for all users of the road including pedestrians and bicyclists. This will be accomplished by using effective crash reduction countermeasures to reduce both vehicle conflicts and the accident rate, which will be detailed at the meeting.

For further information, or to request a sign language interpreter or assistive listening system, contact Robert Schaller, assistant regional design engineer, at 716-847-3043, or write to the New York State Department of Transportation, 100 Seneca St., Buffalo, NY 14203, and reference Project Identification Number 5308.39.

NYSDOT is on Twitter (@NYSDOT @NYSDOTBuffalo) and Facebook (facebook.com/NYSDOT).
