Kappus named chief of bariatrics at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has named Mojdeh S. Kappus, M.D., as chief of its department of bariatrics. The appointment was announced by Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Vijay Bojedla, M.D.

Kappus, a Newfane native, is a graduate of Harvard College and the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Services. She completed both her internship and residency in general surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center (Bronx), where she was administrative chief resident. Kappus subsequently completed an advanced gastrointestinal-minimally invasive surgery fellowship at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Boston).

The recipient of numerous awards for achievement and published in several peer-reviewed research students, Kappus completed post-graduate training in laparoscopic and robotic surgery and is a former Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Foundation fellow.
