Charles 'Charlie' W. Pinkow

Charles “Charlie” W. Pinkow, 79, of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly in the presence of his family on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021.

Charlie was born in Buffalo and raised on Grand Island, New York. He graduated from Riverside High School (Class of 1959). He attended Cornell University and graduated with a degree in chemical engineering. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed 42 years with Rohm & Haas Chemical Company.

As a youngster growing up on Grand Island, he enjoyed swimming, water skiing and fishing in the Niagara River, and earned his spending money mowing lawns, and doing all kinds of chores around the house. He was also involved in any sports that were going on in the neighborhood.

Charlie was an excellent tuba player and member of the Grand Island Community Band, as well as high school and state music organizations. As a young married family man, yardwork was his passion, as well as coaching sports, and rescuing Irish Wolfhounds.

In retirement, he took up the tuba again, plus the baritone, and was general manager of the Southampton Community Band.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marion Pinkow, and by his wife, Kathleen Neissel Pinkow.

He is survived by his daughter, Michele Pinkow Lloyd (Kevin), of Aldan, Pennsylvania; Christopher Pinkow (Kate), of Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania; and grandchildren William and James Pinkow. He is survived by his siblings David Pinkow (Louise), of Boulder, Colorado; and Christine Sipson (Paul), of Grand Island; in addition to a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held privately.
