Community Education has returned and is doing quite well at Niagara Wheatfield.

Fall classes are in full swing and receiving glowing reviews from both instructors and learners at the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District, reports Cindy Travers, community education coordinator.

“Our new and exciting Community Education in-person and online classes range in variety from arts and crafts, certifications and training, health and fitness including body, mind, and spirit, music, open discussions, enrichment, innovation, finance, trips and tours! Our fall offerings include something for all ages and interests!”

Travers said the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District is dedicated to the development of the Niagara Falls, Wheatfield and Western New York communities by working with friends and neighbors to create fun, engaging and meaningful learning opportunities. “Whether you teach with us, learn with us, or wish to meet like-minded individuals with similar interests, welcome!”

The district’s Community Education programs encourage increased use of community resources and volunteers to augment the basic education program and develop partnerships between schools and public and private ser vice providers, business and industry, as well as civic and social service organizations.

“Utilizing public education facilities as community ser vice centers for meeting the educational, social, health, cultural and recreational needs of all ages and sectors of the community develops an environment that

fosters lifelong learning,” Travers said. “Involving the community in educational planning and decision-making provides a responsive, community-based system for collective action by all educational and community agencies to address community issues to develop a system that facilitates home-school-community communication.”

So, what class or classes would you like to see offered in the future?

“Let us know! The best ideas come from the community!”

Travers said.
Thinking of a class you would like to hold? “We are always seeking optimistic, enthusiastic instructors who have skills, hobbies or an expertise that they would like to share with our community! ” Travers said. “First-time instructors as well as seasoned presenters are encouraged to contact us.”

She added, “There are many benefits connected with teaching in our Community Education program. If you are a small business owner, this is a great opportunity to promote your work, network and meet new clients through promotional offers and deals.”

Travers said that, for those interested in forming and/or joining a book club, the district is looking for community members who might be inclined in participating in spring 2022.

View and sign up for classes online at https://www.nwcsd.org/page/community-education, by submitting a check or money order, or by calling the Community Education office at 716-215-3034. “We truly believe in fostering a sense of community through Niagara Wheatfield Central School District Community Education,” Travers said. “In addition to our philosophy, ‘Never Stop Learning!,’ we want everyone who participates in our Community Education classes to feel welcome, learn and have fun!”
