The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens announced its latest exhibit in the “Gardens After Dark” series, “Autumn Twilight.” Happening on select nights throughout the month of October, visitors can enjoy the warm glow of the fall season.

At “Gardens After Dark: Autumn Twilight,” visitors can welcome the chilly fall season under the warmth of the glass conservatory filled with a collection of thousands of exotic plants twinkling with soft lights.

For the first time ever, guests will be able to experience the Botanical Gardens’ oldest exhibit under the romantic and dramatic lights. The mum exhibit is a beloved tradition for many in the Buffalo area and will take on a whole new way of appreciating its beauty. Visitors are encouraged to experience the mum exhibit during the day, at night during “Gardens After Dark,” or both.

The Gardens After Dark exhibit will take place from 5:30-9 p.m. Oct. 13-17, 21-24, 28, 30-31  Guests will be welcomed at the front admission desk and encouraged to pick up a special “Gardens After Dark: scavenger hunt to complete throughout their journey through the Botanical Gardens.

Organizers stated, “The romantic autumn glow is a perfect way to escape the chill in the air and enjoy the cozy warmth of both the lights and tropical environment. To complement the historic mum exhibit and twinkling plant collection, the WNY Railway society will be accompanying the exhibit with a unique, lit up, running train display. Experience ‘Autumn Twilight’ with a date, a friend, a co-worker, or with family.”

In November of 2020, The Botanical Gardens created the “Gardens After Dark” series to bring a new way to experience the conservatory and provide feelings of inspiration, peace and calmness during the unprecedented and difficult times. Each “Gardens After Dark” exhibit focuses on the Botanical Gardens’ mission of connecting people to the natural world in a new way and in a new light – literally. The first exhibit in the year-long series, “Magical Poinsettias,” will return again in November.

“Gardens After Dark” tickets are on sale. Guest passes, coupons and “Arts Access” passes are not valid at “Gardens After Dark.” E-tickets are required for all visitors, including members, due to capacity limitations. Walk-ins may be turned away if capacity is surpassed. Tickets can be purchased online at buffalogardens.com.

Masks are required at all times, regardless of vaccination status, when visiting the Botanical Gardens.
