Michael Kislack of St. Johnsburg was elected to the board of trustees of the Firemen's Association of the State of New York (FASNY) Firemen’s Home. This is Kislack’s first elected position with FASNY. He will serve as trustee for a five-year term.

“I am very excited for this opportunity. The Firemen's Home is a very special place to our members, and I want to be able to help the home in any way that I can,” said the 30-year member of FASNY. Kislack is also a member of FASNY’s recruitment and retention committee.

“I hope to continue the great work the trustees before me have started and to bring new ideas and plans to the table,” he said. “My goal is to keep the Firemen’s Home the state-of-the-art facility that it is today. The members should always know that the Firemen’s Home is their ‘home-away-from-home.’ ”

Kislack has been in the fire service for nearly 32 years with the St. Johnsburg Fire Co. in Niagara County. Kislack served on the company’s board of directors from 1990-2002 and then 2017-20. He is the service award chairman and was on several different fundraising initiatives, including the building committee and truck committee.

Kislack is also active within the fire service. He is currently a member and was the past president of the Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association and also the Western New York Volunteer Firemen's Association. He is also a member of the Town of Wheatfield Benevolent Association, a member of the Niagara County Recruitment and Retention Committee and the Niagara County Fire Advisory Board.

When not responding to emergency calls and working with the St. Johnsburg Fire Co., Kislack is the general manager for McCarthy Tire Service in Buffalo. He is married to a fellow firefighter, Brenda. In their spare time, the two enjoy camping during the summer and like to spend time with their family and friends. They have two children and three grandchildren.
