On July 20, at approximately 7:20 p.m., the Niagara Falls Police Crash Management Unit responded to the 600 block of 16th Street to investigate a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
A 9-year-old juvenile was playing on the sidewalk when he ran after a ball and into the path of an oncoming SUV. The child was taken by an adult at the scene to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He was transferred to Oishei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, where he is currently listed in critical condition with head and internal injuries.
The 57-year-old driver of the vehicle was uninjured and is cooperating in the investigation.
At this time, no charges are pending.
