New York State Sen. Sean Ryan released the following statement Tuesday regarding a house explosion that occurred at 91 Bedford Ave., Lackawanna: “As someone who grew up in Lackawanna, I was saddened to see the news today about a house explosion in my hometown. The accounts from the scene are truly tragic, and I join the community in mourning the loss of 92-year-old Irene Sanok. My thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time.
“I want to express my thanks to our first responders who answered the call to duty today under very difficult circumstances. They worked quickly to address the situation and ensure the safety of nearby residents whose homes were damaged. I look forward to a thorough investigation so that we may learn more about the cause of this incident.”
