Buffalo Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins and his foundation, Dion's Dreamers, will host “Christmas in July” from 4-10 p.m. Buffalo, Friday, July 16. This is a free, outside event in celebration of 716 Day. It will celebrate local businesses and restaurants. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, with proceeds going toward Dion’s Dreamers. Live music, entertainment, and a visit from Santa will take place at the cross streets of North Park Avenue and Hertel Avenue.
The area will be blocked off. Social distancing will be required on-site.
Participating businesses include the Buffalo Police Department, Buffalo Fire Department, Spot, The Cereal Spot, Get Smoked, Bertha's, Wine On Hertel, Del Denby's, Rachel's, BlueCross BlueShield, Buffalo Bills Foundation, Churn, Lloyd, The Dirtybird, Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, Expo. ACV Auctions, Hertel Food Expo, House of Olives, Local Edge, Hertel Business Association, Off The Wall Sandwich Co., Outback Kettlecorn, and Snowcones Galore.
Dawkins is entering his fifth season in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills. He was born and raised in Rahway, New Jersey, and later played at Temple University. Dawkins declared for the 2017 NFL Draft and was selected in the second round with the 63rd overall pick. His work ethic and leadership on and off the field led him to be named as one of the Bills’ captains for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
In 2020, Dion’s Dreamers was founded to provide mentorship and support to young men and women in underserved communities, as well as those in a place of mental, financial or physical hardship. Dion’s Dreamers also aims to advocate for vulnerable populations by increasing awareness of the environmental issues that directly affect their communities.
