This year, Explore & More – The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children’s museum’s annual “Touch a Truck” event takes on a whole new form. Explore & More announced “Trucking through the Summer A-Z,” presented by M&T Bank and Dunn Tire, a celebration of all things trucks all summer long.

The event kicks off July 7 and will take place every Wednesday and Friday in July and August outside in the museum’s loading dock area. On those days, families can see, touch and explore different vehicles, from cement mixers and diggers to excavators and tanker trucks. On Fridays, the museum will host “First Responder Fridays,” presented by Fisher-Price. These days will feature Erie County and City of Buffalo emergency vehicles (and visits from their K9 units), Buffalo Fire Department fire and ladder trucks, ambulances, and military vehicles. There will be different activities, special guests and surprise giveaways throughout the summer.

The fun continues inside the museum with truck-related activities in the museum’s Tinker Tank and Art Studio, as well as virtually with storytime videos to view and listen and activity demonstrations families can do at home. Additionally, inside the museum, there will be a scavenger hunt, presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, every Saturday. Museum guests can search for clues and win prizes to take home.

The event culminates with the biggest day yet. On Aug. 28, more than 40 trucks will be parked along Canalside for a fun outdoor event for the whole family, at no charge. Children can explore construction, utility and first responder vehicles; meet special guests; participate and enjoy engaging activities; and walk away with some goodies.

Explore & More CEO Michelle Urbanczyk said, "This is one of our most beloved events and we're so pleased to be able to extend it throughout the summer and keep it free for everyone. There's nothing like seeing a child's face light up when they sit behind the wheel of a dump truck or honk the horn on a fire truck.”

“Trucking through the Summer” is a free event, open to the public, with no registration required. Explore & More – The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children's Museum is located at 130 Main St., Buffalo. Visit exploreandmore.org.
