Julia Greco (nee Halicki), age 72, of Grand Island, entered into rest March 26, 2021, after a short but courageous battle with COVID-19.
Beloved wife and soulmate of Frank, she is the adored mother of Marla (Erik) Decker, Janine Greco and Monica Greco; doting grandmother to Sam and Elliot; and dear sister to Winnie (James) Bobeck, James (Melinda) Halicki, Hank (Christine) Szpak, the late Thomas Halicki, Marlene Hemingway and Joan Tenhagen. The daughter of the late Edward and Harriett Halicki, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Following high school, Julia worked for New York Telephone for 11 years before leaving to raise her family. Later, she fulfilled her dream to go back to school and obtained a degree from Niagara County Community College in communications. Her career included starting Jewel Desktop Publishing and becoming the head of the Niagara Wellness Council, which promoted heart health and the New York State Clean Indoor Air Act.
Julia enjoyed a full life, loved her family whole-heartedly, was a great cook and talented artist, and enjoyed throwing family parties and tending to her gardens; her property was featured on the Grand Island Garden Tour twice.
The family requests flowers be sent to Kaiser Funeral Home on Monday. Private services will be held due to COVID-19 concerns.
