Niagara County Legislature Chairwoman Becky Wydysh on Tuesday announced the replacement of the Upper Mountain Road culvert over Fish Creek in the Town of Lewiston is complete. The road will reopen to traffic by the end of the day, Wednesday, Dec. 2. The culvert, located northeast of Moyer Road, has been closed since September.

“I very much appreciate the efforts of our public works team and or contractors to continue completing road projects across Niagara County even as the weather begins to change,” Wydysh said. “I also want to thank motorists who had to deal with the inconvenience of the closure throughout the fall.”

According to Niagara County Public Works Commission Garret Meal, the existing twin-barrel, 6-foot diameter metal pipe arches were replaced with a precast three-sided concrete frame. This project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, and was funded with the help of the New York state's Bridge NY program. Hunting Valley Construction was the contractor on the project.
