On Wednesday afternoon, Community Missions received a donation of a $1,000 gift card to Ashley Furniture for its newest program, a youth homelessness demonstration program.

Melinda Evans of Grand Island won the gift certificate through a promotion held by United Way of Buffalo & Erie County promoting payroll deduction, which she participates in through her employer, Maryvale School District. Once she won, she thought of donating it to Community Missions given her experience volunteering and supporting the organization through her church, Island United Presbyterian Church of Grand Island.

The donation came at a great time, as CMI was seeking furniture donations to open this program, which will serve young adults experiencing homelessness in Niagara Falls.

Community Missions thanked all involved to make this possible.
