The Niagara Region of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has announced procedures for the 2020-21 waterfowl hunting lottery drawings for the state parks on Grand Island.

Due to the restrictions on public gatherings all waterfowl permits will be completed through an electronic lottery system. The lottery form may be entered by filling out the form located at www.parks.ny.gov/parks/56/details.aspx and submitted to [email protected] .

Submissions for the lottery will be due the Wednesday before the week of the hunt, but hunters may select multiple weeks on one form. Permits will be valid for the entire week. One submission of the lottery form will allow hunters to select the weeks they would like to hunt for the entire season. Those who win blinds will receive their permit via email. Both island blinds and river blinds will be available, as will ADA-accessible blinds.

As a reminder, the season is as follows:

  • Waterfowl first half: Oct. 17 through Nov. 8
  • Goose season: Nov. 9-28
  • Waterfowl second half: Nov. 28 through Jan. 3, 2021
  • Goose season: Jan. 4-9

Additionally, Beaver Island State Park is offering a youth hunt for the weekend of Oct. 3-4. This will be done by calling the park office between the hours of 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Oct. 2, at 716-773-3271. Permits will be available for pick up by 4 p.m. at the park office.
