Coronavirus stats for May 14

Niagara County

Niagara County’s Department of Health issued the following update on positive COVID-19 cases in Niagara County:

  • 30 new positive cases, for a total of 766 positives to date (isolations + recoveries + deaths)
  • 305 active cases (285 isolating at home, 20 in a hospital)
  • 415 recovered
  • 46 deaths
  • 5,981 people tested (source: https://covid19tracker.health.ny.gov/)

Quarantines, unlike isolations, are for people who are well and not showing symptoms, but may have been exposed to the virus. Right now, 185 people are in quarantine while 612 have completed quarantine.

Erie County

As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, Erie County had a total of 4,579 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 48 on Grand Island and 1,897 in the City of Buffalo. To date, 27,864 people have been tested (18.4% positive), with 400 deaths attributed to the coronavirus. Also, 21,139 people have taken an antibody test (7.8% positive).
