Coronavirus county update for May 3: Niagara now past 500 positive cases

The Niagara County Department of Health issued the following update Sunday on positive COVID-19 cases in Niagara County: “We regretfully report one new death of a Niagara County resident, an 85-year-old female with underlying health conditions. We send our deepest sympathies to her family and friends.”  

The rest of the update is as follows:

• 35 new positive cases (since Friday, May 1), for a total of 523 to date
• 26 deaths
• 3,052 people tested (source: https://covid19tracker.health.ny.gov/)

The Niagara County "heat map" will be updated tomorrow morning with more detailed information. In addition, the live Niagara County update will be on Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. on LCTV.

Erie County

As of 5 p.m. Friday, Erie County had a total of 3,481 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 47 on Grand Island and 1,375 in the City of Buffalo. To date, 17,009 people have been tested, with 283 deaths attributed to the coronavirus.
