The following comes from the Erie County Department of Health:

During Friday’s live video with County Executive Mark Poloncarz and Commissioner of Health Dr. Gale Burstein, we provided reminders for “snowbirds” and travelers returning to the area, especially if they are elderly or living with serious or chronic medical conditions.

  • Stay home: essential errands only.
  • Limit interactions with others.
  • Maintain six feet of distance from others in public places.
  • Chain pharmacies are offering free Rx delivery.
  • Consider grocery delivery services, or shopping at off-peak hours with gloves or masks.
  • Make a plan if you or someone in your household becomes ill with COVID-19 symptoms.

Narcan Boxes

ECDOH is asking area motels, restaurants, grocery stores and food pantries that are open and serving patrons or customers to have Narcan on site. We have seen a significant increase in suspected overdose deaths in March, and Narcan can reverse the harmful effects of an opioid overdose if administered in time.

ECDOH will provide metal emergency Narcan boxes for installation, or a supply of Narcan kits, at no cost. Call 716-858-7695 to receive Narcan or for more information.
