A group from the town’s Golden Age Center has used its Christmas spirit to raise money for Children’s Hospital.
Recreation Leader Carrie Mesmer at the GAC reported, “The seniors and I have been working hard for the last several months crafting a variety of homemade ornaments mixed with a minimal amount of store-bought items for a special event: Festival of Trees, the event of the holiday season benefitting John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital.”
Mesmer said the volunteer designer group chose to do a 6.5-foot tree for the show with a theme “It’s Snow Wonderful.”
The Golden Age Center group headed to the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center to set up and decorated the tree, which was judged Dec. 6. The event took place Dec. 8 and 9. Trees and wreaths were available for purchase at the event, and the GAC tree went for $250.
“This is the 42nd year of this event and it is a very heartwarming and special way to celebrate and support another worthwhile local cause,” Mesmer said.
