Winter tips for Wheatfield residents

A reminder to Wheatfield residents, the brush chipper went off the road in October. We did bring it out briefly after a windstorm and the town was covered three times to pick up storm related debris. The brush chipper will not be back out until spring unless we have unseasonably snow melt. The leaf pickup will not be back out. Bag leaves for regular trash pick-up.

There is a No Parking law on roads that runs from Nov. 15 to April 1 from 2-6 a.m. Vehicles left in the roadway can be ticketed and towed for failing to obey. Parking on cul-de-sacs at any time may prevent the entire road from being plowed, as our trucks cannot make it around with cars parked there.

When encountering any municipal plow, move over so that they can plow the center of the road and give them plenty of room when you see them pulling out into a road as sometimes they have to back up across the intersection.

Place garbage cans and recycling bins in the driveway or yard, not in the roadway. This way they won’t be knocked over during plowing operations.

My crews are on call 24/7 including holidays for snow removal. Have patience and understanding so they can get their jobs done and spend time with their families during the holiday season.
