The North Tonawanda mayor’s office, in conjunction with the city’s Department of Youth, Recreation and Parks, reported entries are currently being accepted for the city’s “Decorate for the holidays contest.” The contest is open to any North Tonawanda resident who decorates their home or business for the holiday season.
Entries will be judged on the following categories:
•Classical: Lighting is conventional and old-fashioned, using wreaths, garland, etc.
•Themed: Use of one idea throughout entire display or lighting concept.
•Clark Griswold: Nonconventional methods of decorating; over-the-top displays.
•Business: Window or storefront holiday theme displays for any NT business.
•People’s Choice: Pictures of verified submissions will be placed online, and the general public will get to vote for the best overall house.
Residents are encouraged to nominate other houses and businesses in the community for entry into the contest. Self-nominations are also accepted. Details are available online at www.ntparksrec.com.
Judging will be conducted by the mayor’s office from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11. The prizes will be presented to the winner in each category during the awards ceremony at the Common Council meeting Tuesday, Dec. 17.
