Local chapter of Compassionate Friends to hold candle-lighting ceremony

Public invited to attend, submit names of children who have passed

The Western New York chapter of The Compassionate Friends will host a candle-lighting service at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, to remember and celebrate the lives of children lost too soon. The ceremony will take place at The Meeting House, located at 5658 Main St., Williamsville.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a picture of their child or children lost. Families may also have the name(s) of those who they would like to recognize included in the event program by emailing the name(s) to [email protected]. The deadline for submission of names for the program is Dec. 1.

The local chapter of The Compassionate Friends meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Amherst Lutheran Church, located at 5125 Main St., Williamsville. It offers friendship, understanding and hope to bereaved families who have experienced the death of a child.

Founded more than 40 years ago, over 600 chapters serving all 50 states and more than 30 countries have a Compassionate Friends presence.
