Lewiston Artisan Farmers Market moving to The Griffon for Peach Festival Saturday

For one week only, the Lewiston Artisan Farmers Market is moving across the street – to The Griffon House, at 810 Center St. This will take place Sept. 7, to accommodate the Peach Festival.

This weekend (Aug. 31) and thereafter, the market will continue at Academy Park from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturdays (through Oct. 12).

Organizer Jamie Symmonds of Willow Consulting said, “The owners were gracious enough to offer that up to us as a solution, since the park would not be available that weekend.

“This is just one example of the many things I love about Lewiston: small businesses coming together, helping each other out, and supporting one another. It was important, especially for the farmers, to have a place to sell their produce, and the Griffon owners stepped up and offered us a home.”

Now in its second season, the market is thriving in the Village of Lewiston.

“This season, we have added some new elements to the market and it seems to have gotten a positive response from the shoppers,” Symmonds said. “Things such as how-to demonstrations, live music, yoga for kids and adults, and even a paint in the park class, which was a huge success. I am hoping to add a few more things to hopefully draw in even more shoppers next year.”

Symmonds noted it’s always difficult to create a new event, but, “once people have discovered us, they seem to keep coming back.

“Lewiston, in my opinion, is the perfect backdrop for the market, and we have so much to offer each week. The market is a place to get amazing fresh produce, baked goods, honey, eggs, and homemade artisan products designed and produced by the vendors themselves.”

The Lewiston Artisan Farmers Market is always accepting new vendors. For more information, contact Symmonds at [email protected] or on Facebook under Lewiston Artisan Farmers Market.
