Niagara Falls City Councilman Chris Voccio will lead a Niagara River Gorge hike from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 7.

Hikers will meet Voccio at the main shelter of Whirlpool State Park at 9 a.m. This hike will lead to Devils Hole State Park, then down into the gorge, along the lower river, then back to Whirlpool State Park.

Because of the parkway removal project and roadwork on Findlay Drive, people can access the parkway from Lewiston Road near Devils Hole, then head south to Whirlpool; or they can park in the lot at DeVeaux Woods State Park and then walk the path to Whirlpool State Park.

Voccio said the route is arduous and only for those in good physical condition. Hikers should wear comfortable footwear with a good tread and bring water and sun protection.

Call Voccio with questions at 716-696-0086.
