Niagara County Fair returns to Lockport

The Niagara County Fair, Western New York’s family fair and largest youth fair in the state, with fun for the whole family will make its return July 31 to Aug. 4, at 4487 Lake Ave., Lockport. 

Those who visit the fair will enjoy community events, games, rides, 4-H events, 4-H animals, unique entertainment, food, music and educational activities. Attendees are encouraged to come to the Niagara County Fair for traditional fair favorites and exciting, new attractions. A visit to the Niagara County Fair is a fun and educational day for the whole family.

Notable events for 2019 include:

•Niagara County Sheriff’s K9 and Containment & Emergency Response Team (CERT) demonstrations near the Sheriff’s Tent. Attendees are encouraged to try the Sheriff’s Office’s driving simulator.

•Antique Tractor Parade (Wednesday, July 31) and display.

•Niagara County Firefighters Parade (Saturday, Aug. 3) on Lake Avenue. The parade will start at 5 p.m. and last approximately 30 minutes. Lake Avenue will be closed during the parade. This includes anyone wishing to enter or exit the fairgrounds.

•Free 4-H activities for kids daily in the 4-H Training Center.

•4-H Livestock Auction – Registration begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, at the show ring, while bidding begins at 6 p.m. This unique sale features 4-H home-raised, high-quality rabbits, lambs, meat goats, hogs, chickens and steers. Auction bidding is open to the general public.

•The farm-city breakfast sponsored by Douglas E. Thompson Agency Inc. and Becky Thompson Insurance Agency – 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1. The cost is $8. 

•Chicken Barbeque ($11) – noon, Thursday, Aug. 2. Attendees will receive a half barbecue chicken, coleslaw, dinner roll and a beverage.

•4-H animals: beef cattle, dairy cattle, dog, equine, dairy goat, meat goat, working goats, sheep, rabbit.

•Show Car Cruise from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4. 

•Those who enjoy music, visit the fair to listen to local bands including: 

√Derek Mediak Band – Wednesday

√Creekside Classic Country – Wednesday

√Celtic Cross – Thursday

√Mike Hartman Country Band – Thursday

√Carl Motyka – Friday

√McHenry & Baz – Friday

√Tryst – Friday in beer tent

√North of Forty – Saturday

√Eric Burgett – Saturday

√90 West – Saturday in beer tent

√Carmen & Lizzy – Sunday

√The Getting Better Band – Sunday

•Amusement games and rides by Main Event Amusements – Rides start at 1 p.m. or after the safety inspection on Wednesday. Tickets are $1.25 each, or $25 for a booklet of 25 tickets. You can also by a wristband for $25, which will be good from 1-10 p.m. 

•Admission – $5 on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday; and Sunday $3 or $10 per carload. Children 6 years and under are free.

•Parking is free. 

•Fair hours – Wednesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
