Members of the Lewiston VFW Downriver Post No. 7487 were in Academy Park last week to sign the contract to begin construction of the new memorial that will feature the names of Lewiston veterans.

A groundbreaking ceremony will be conducted within the next couple of weeks.

The memorial will be unveiled under the lights during an evening ceremony on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

Rocco DelGrosso has been designated the builder. He is well known for his landmark and monument projects around Western New York. He constructed Lewiston’s Tuscarora Heroes Monument on Center Street.
