The Lewiston Police Explorers are teaming up with Lewiston Redemption Center to raise money for the new inclusive playground behind the Red Brick Municipal Building in Lewiston.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 6, Explorers, Lewiston Redemption employees and Lewiston Police Department officers will team up to receive bottles, cans and any donation for the play area.

Food and drinks also will be available. Anyone who brings a donation of any kind will receive a free hot dog.

Each year, the Explorers are challenged with a project that helps the community. Projects in past years include the “Egg-stravaganza” at the Red Brick. They also placed wreaths on the graves of fallen heroes on Memorial Day.

This year, when the Explorers found out the new playground project hadn’t yet reached its fundraising goal, they wanted to make a difference and use this opportunity to make the community even better.

Lewiston Redemption Center is located at 820 Seneca St., next to Greg’s Pools.
